…..To Live Miserable At Old Age, Don’t Do This!

1. WRONG ASSOCIATION: Your contact with the right man is your link to the throne. The company you keep determines the impacts you will make. John Mason said, ‘’Your true friends are those who bring out the best in you”. If you walk with people of vision, you will become visionary. Beware! Success and failure are contagious and the mode of transmission is friendship.

2. BAD MARRIAGE: Success in marriage does not come merely through finding the right mate but through being the right mate. The best thing you can do for yourself and future is to consciously build a good home. Your marriage should be a role model to people around you. You can’t adequately prepare for a good life without a good spouse. Learn how to make your own marriage work; do not pretend that all is well when they are not. Rise up to build a glorious marriage for a better tomorrow.

3. SPENDING LOANS ON FRIVOLITIES: Loans are meant for viable projects, not for burial ceremonies, weddings, birthdays etc. If you are fortunate to get one, kindly spend it wisely by buying a land, building houses to rent out and/or investing wisely. Differentiate between needs and wants. Be a wise spender, if you are not prudent, you will spend all your earnings on personal needs.

4. NOT IMPROVING YOURSELF: Earth is not stagnant, neither is the business environment static. Hence, those who want to remain on the same spot. If you want to get to the top and remain at the top, you must be improving yourself constantly by reading, attending seminars and other life-enriching programmes. Be a dynamic person, if you fail to improve yourself, others who are fond of self improving will become your boss and you become their messenger.

5. FAILURE TO SAVE MONEY: Many people find it difficult to save money. They have a lot of excuses for not saving but no matter your reasons for not saving, it is unwise not to save. In fact, if you have no saving, you are saving for poverty.

6. FAILURE TO INVEST: This is another mistake you must never make. Never fail to invest your money. Don’t just save your money, invest it! Invest in viable projects like publishing of your own books, real estates, stocks and shares etc.

7. THINKING YOU ARE STILL FAR FROM RETIREMENT: Every day you spend at work takes you closer to retirement. If you are to retire in the next 35 years and you started working yesterday, it means you now have less than 35 years at work. The best time to prepare for retirement is now! One wise man said, “On the great clock of time, there is only but one word, NOW!” Success is the reaction of life to the actions that men dared to take.

8. EXCESSIVE BORROWING: Avoid borrowing like a plague. Never borrow for wedding, burial, birthday etc. To borrow means to ‘BORE’ your ‘MORROW’ i.e to drill your tomorrow, to spend the future today and remove the power of tomorrow
